Exam Pattern;
The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination is held in two parts - preliminary and final examination.

The preliminary entrance exam paper is divided into four parts –
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Biology

All parts carry multiple choice questions having number of options. In total, the entrance examination consists of 200 questions, which have to be answered within the time span 21/2 hour. For every wrong answer there will be Negative marking. Based on the marks obtained by the student in the preliminary test, a separate list of the engineering and medical student is prepared after evaluating the answers sheets. The student, who successfully qualify the preliminary test, are eligible to appear in the final stage of the examination.

The final examination is held on a different date. Final test is divided into three parts. The questions are asked from the combination of subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The student aspiring to pursue course in the medical field have to appear in a paper that consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The questions in final examination are also of objective type and the system of negative marking for wrong answers attempted by a candidate prevails.
