About This Course:
FRI (Deemed) University announces M.Sc. in Cellulose & Paper Technology course; an industry oriented programme and upgraded version of its prestigious PG Diploma in Pulp & Paper Technology which is being run since 1959. The course will cater to the needs of Pulp & Paper industries. It will also cover the chemistry of fibrous raw material, pulping, bleaching, paper making process operations, pollution abatement etc. The 2nd year of this course is likely to be conducted at Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI), Saharanpur.

DURATION: Two years

QUALIFICATION: Graduate degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects (For SC/ST candidates 45% marks), BE/B.Tech. (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate for General and 45% for SC, ST).

*Admission to Bachelor of Special Education (Hearing Impairment) is open to candidates who have passed B.Ed degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore
*The candidates who have obtained a minimum of 50% of the aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination are eligible for admission.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament. The IITs are well known, the world over, for quality education in engineering and science, and research in frontier areas. The aim of IITs is to build sound foundation of knowledge, pursue excellence and enhance creativity in intellectually stimulating environment. The current pace of advancement of technology needs a coherent back-up of basic science education and research. About GATE;
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc)and seven Indian Institutes of Technology(IIT) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of
Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results.GATE is conducted through the constitution of eight zones. The zones and the corresponding administering institutes are:

GATE Qualification;
Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other Government
scholarships/assistantships in engineering colleges/institutes is open to those who qualify in
GATE examination. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/
Archit ect ure or Master’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer
Applications, who qualify in GATE examination are eligible for admission to Master’s degree programmes in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in
relevant branches of Science wit h MHRD or ot her Government scholarships/assistantships. To
avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution. However, candidates with Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture may seek admission to relevant Doct oral
programmes with scholarship/assistantship without appearing in the GATE examination.
Qualification in GAT E is also a minimum requirement to apply for various fellowships awarded by many Government organizations.
