Integrated Common Entrance Test ( ICET)

Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) in Andhra Pradesh (AP) is held for admission into postgraduate management and computer application programs. The administering authority for Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) is Andhra University (AU). Graduate students in any discipline viz, science, arts, commerce, business, computers etc writes ICET Entrance Exam. On the basis of score in ICET Andhra Pradesh candidate gets admission in professional programs like Master of Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) etc. Admissions are offered in full time, part time, distance learning and evening courses. ICET Eligibility Criteria:

a) The candidates should be Indian National and should satisfy local/non-local status requirements laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission) Order, 1974 as amended up to date (as per G.O.Ms.No.25, date :19-03-2004 & G.O.Ms.No.108, Higher Education Department, dated 30-07-2005 and its amendments).

b) The Candidate other then Indian Nationals should satisfy the rules of the Universities concerned.

c) A pass (or) appearance at the final year examinations of Bachelor’s Degree (Except BOL and BFA) of any University in Andhra Pradesh or Any other University Recognized as equivalent thereto.

d) The candidate seeking admission into MBA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less then three years duration from any recognized University or equivalent thereof basides passing SSC or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

e) The candidate seeking admission into MCA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination or not less than three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level (or) should have passed BAchelor’s Degree Examination of not less than 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

f) The candidates who are appearing for the final year degree examination shall also be eligible to appear for ICET.

g) Admission into any college depends on its Recognition/Affiliation by the Statutory Bodies.

h) Qualifying marks in ICET is 25% and no minimum marks prescribed for SC/ST candidates.





ICET Test Pattern & Syllabus:

Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) for MBA / MCA Admission consists of 200 objective-type questions (1 mark each) to be answered in 150 minutes for 200 marks. The question paper consists of three Sections as mentioned below:

Detailed Syllabus:

The syllabus of ICET-AP test for getting admission into MBA and MCA programs are as mentioned below:

Section A - Analytical Ability

Analytical Ability section is focused in two major areas:

Data Sufficiency

Problem Solving

Based on this, the questions will be asked from the following patterns:

Sequences and Series:

Analogies of numbers and alphabet, completion of blank spaces following the pattern in a: b: c: d relationship, odd man out; missing number in a sequence or a series.

Data Analysis:

The data given in a Table, Graph, Bar Diagram, Pie Chart, Ven diagram or a passage is to be analyzed and the questions pertaining to the data are to be answered.

Coding and Decoding problems:

A code pattern of English Alphabet is given. A given word or a group of letters are to be coded or decoded based on the given code or codes.

Date, Time and Arrangement problems:

Calendar problems, clock problems, blood relationships, arrivals, departures and schedules, seating arrangements, symbol and notation interpretation.



Section B - Mathematical Ability

Mathematical Ability section of ICET-AP comprises of three sections:

Arithmetical Ability:

Laws of Indices, Ratio and Proportion; Surds; Numbers and Divisibility, LCM, and DCD; Rational Numbers; Ordering; Percentages; Profit and Loss; Partnerships; Pipes and Cisterns, time, distance and work problems; areas and volumes; Mensuration, Modular Arithmetic.

Algebrical and Geometrical Ability:

Statements, Truth tables, Implication, Converse and Inverse, Tautology, Sets, Relations and Functions; Polynomials; Remainder theorem and consequences; Linear equations and inequations; Modules; Quadratic equations and expression; Progressions, Binomial Theorem, Matrices, Notion of a limit and derivative.

Plane Geometry: Lines, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles, Coordinate Geometry - Distance between points and Applications. Equation of a line in different forms.

Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios. Trigonometric ratios of standard angles (00, 300, 450, 600, 900, 1800); Trigonometric identities; simple problems on Heights and Distances.

Statistical Ability: Frequency distributions, Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Division, Correlation, Simple problems and Probability.



Section C - Communication Ability

The section C of ICET-AP comprises of questions that test the ability of the candidates in the language areas of:


Identifying vocabulary used in the day-to-day communication.
Understanding the functional use of grammar in day-to-day communication as well as in the business contexts.
Identifying the basic terminology and concepts in computer and business contexts (letters, reports, memoranda, agenda, minutes etc).
