All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The admission for 15% of the total seats for medical/dental bachelor degree courses in medical colleges run by Union of India, state government, municipal and other local authorities in India except the state of Jammu & Kashmir is made on the basis of AIPMT merit list.
As per the revised scheme, the AIPMT examination is conducted in two stages:
Preliminary Examination and
Final Examination
Final Examination is only for those candidates who has found place in the CBSE-AIPMT preliminary examination.
The eligibility of candidates for appearing in CBSE – AIPMT is as follows :
i) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./DENTAL Course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.
ii) The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical /Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance
examination. Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Schedule
Tribes/Other Backward Classes.
iii) The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates.
iii) The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates.
iv) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50%
marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. Those who are taking plus two examination in 2009 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally to their fulfilling the conditions later.
v) 15% seats for SC candidates and 7.5% seats for ST candidates are reserved in 15% All India Quota for MBBS/BDS course. The reservation will be made as per the 2200 point reservation roster.

ONLINE
Online submission of application may be made by accessing the Board's website www.aipmt.nic.in from 15.11.2010 [10.00 AM.] to 31.12.2010 (5.00 P.M.). Instructions for sending online application, payment of fee and computer generated printout are available on website. Candidates submitting on-line application have been given exemption of Rs.100/- in the examination fee irrespective of their category.
Accordingly- fee of Rs. 700/- for General/ BC Category Candidates and Rs. 350/- for SC / ST Category Candidates may be remitted in the following ways :
1. By Credit Card, or
2. Through Demand Draft in fayour of Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Delhi.
OFFLINE
Offline submission of Application may be made on the prescribed Application Form. The Information Bulletin and Application Form costing Rs.800/- for General / OBC Category and Rs.450/- for SC / ST category can be obtained against Cash Payment from the designated branches of Canara Bank / Regional Offices of the CBSE between 13.12.2011 to 31.12.2011.
Information Bulletin and Application Form can also be obtained by Post from the Board by sending a written request with a Demand Draft for Rs.850/- for General / OBC Category and Rs.500/- for SC / ST Category payable to the Secretary, Central Board ofSecondary Education , Delhi along with a Self-Addressed Envelope of size 12"x 10” . The request must reach to the Board on or before 24.12.2011. The request should be superscribed as “Request for Information Bulletin and Application Form for AIPMT - 2011”.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducts an all India entrance test for admission into Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course. The duration of the course is 5 ? years including internship. The course is highly popular and one of the best among available medical courses in India. The degrees awarded by the institute is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi, Medical Council of India (MCI) and all other national and international bodies for the purpose of further studies, employment and research work etc.
Eligibility Criteria for Appearing in AIIMS All India Entrance Exam for admission into MBBS program is described below-
Nationality: Only Indian National can apply for appearing in the entrance examination.
Age: The candidates must have attained or will attain the age of seventeen (17) years on the 31st of December of the year of admission.
Educational Qualification: Passed 12th Class under the 10 2 Scheme / Senior School Certificate Examination or an equivalent examination of a recognised Board of any Indian State with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.
OR
The Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination of a recognized Indian university / Board of Education with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY
OR
Pre-Medical or Pre-Professional examination of the integrate M.B.B.S. course with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY ; after having passed either the higher Secondary School Examination or Pre-University Examination, or an equivalent Examination.
OR
The 1st year examination of the 3-year B.Sc. degree course with ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY (Organic and Inorganic)
OR
Any other examination with the required subjects, which in scope and standard (including its courses and syllabus) is considered by the institute, equivalent to Pre-medical/Intermediate Science examination of an Indian University.
Minimum Aggregate: The candidate must have obtained a minimum of SIXTY PERCENT (60%) marks in aggregate in the 4 compulsory subjects of ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY.
Graduate Applicant
If an applicant has passed the B.Sc. or B.V.Sc. or B.Sc. (Nursing) final examination by securing not less than fifty five percent(55%) of the total marks in aggregate in any of these examinations, he/she shall be eligible for appearing in the Competitive Entrance Examination provided in the 12th class examination under 10 2 scheme/ Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical or Pre-Professional /B.Sc. 1st year examination of three years course or an equivalent examination, he/she had studied the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, even if he/she has secured less than 60% marks in the subjects specified above.
For Scheduled Caste/Tribe Candidates: A candidate who has obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in his/her 12th class examination under 10 2 Scheme/Intermediate Science/ Pre-Medical / Pre-Professional/B.Sc 1st year or an equivalent examination will be eligible to appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination.
A candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste/Tribe community who has passed the B.Sc or B.V.Sc. or B.Sc (Nursing) final examination by securing not less than fifty percent (50%) of the total marks in aggregate in any of these examination, shall be eligible for appearing in the Competitive Entrance Examination, provided in the 12th class under 10 2 scheme/Intermediate Science or Pre-Medical or Pre-Professional or B.Sc. 1st year or an equivalent examination, he/she has studied the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The competitive entrance examination is of 3 &1/2 hours duration of one paper consisting of 180 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions, from Physics, Chemistry, Biology (60 questions from each including 20 questions of Assertion-Reason type) and 20 questions from General Knowledge. The details of distribution of marks are as follows:

Each correct response get 1 mark and each incorrect response get - 1/3 marks.
